Character Make-up

As a part of my studies at UAL, I completed a project based on Philip Pullman’s novel Northern Lights. I chose a character described in the book – Serafina Pekkala – and designed the prosthetics and head piece that I wanted to create.

I started by doing a full head cast of my model, which I then began to sculpt on the top of using my designs are reference.

I then floated these sculpts off and created section moulds which I could then create a two part mould from, ultimately making the foam latex prosthetics from.

I also created a cluster wig and crown using millinery wire.
