Opera Character – Wig

For my final project of my first year of study, I collaborated with costume student Kelsey Vickery to create a character based on the children’s opera L’enfant et les sortilèges by Maurice Ravel.

I created a wig cage with a hand knotted front hairline with weft used for the rest of the head. I also created the origami paper flowers to conceal the entrance to the wig cage which would be used to gain access inside the cage.

I also hand-knotted the pastiche eyebrows and made cheekbones out of liquid latex.
